Dana Lyn 


New York-based violinist and composer Dana Lyn inhabits a musical world somewhere in the Venn diagram of 70’s art rock, classical, traditional Irish and improvised music. She regularly collaborates with a wide variety of artists, including Tony Award-winning musician-playwright Stew, Irish poet Louis de Paor, actor-directors Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio, performance artist Taylor Mac, avant cellist Hank Roberts, and guitarist Kyle Sanna. As a composer, Lyn has received commissions from Brooklyn Rider, the Apple Hill String Quartet, the National Arts Council of Ireland, violist Nicholas Cords, Palaver Strings, and A Far Cry. She was an artist in residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in 2017, an awardee of the American Composers Forum Create Commission in 2018, a recipient of the NYFA Women's Fund Award in 2020, and a Sundance Composer Lab Fellow in 2021. She has recorded eight albums as a bandleader or co-bandleader and has also created stop-motion animations for Taylor Mac, children's artist Elena Moon Park, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, and her respective collaborations with Sanna and D'Onofrio.
